I Still Remember my Password!
Can you believe it?So the Olympics are over, and even with all the controversy over 'Own the Podium' being a failure or not, Canada took home the most gold medals ever in a Winter Olympics. It was a fantastic two weeks of winter sports. I don't think I've ever been so interested in the Winter Olympics before. Perhaps it's because it's my first home Olympics as a Canadian. The USA didn't need me to cheer for them, they are so big. I was a Canadian through and though.
Much has been said about the Opening Ceremonies, so I'll skip to the Closing Ceremonies. One word: BARF!
Over the past few months I've been working furiously on a portfolio website: ericschweichler.info, and more recently an iPhone app. All the iPad hype has gotten me interested in working on the device. So I joined the iPhone developer program ($99 a year) and jumped right in. I can't talk about iPad stuff since I'm under an NDA until the end of the month or so, but I can say that I'll be buying one as soon as I can get my grubby mits on it! As for the application I'm developing, details will be publicly released very soon.
What's going on with the blog redesign you ask? I haven't spent much time on it recently. There are a few bugs to fix before I can make the switch. We'll see if I can pull myself away from all these other projects to work on those.
The puppies have been running well when we have snow. The weather has been absolutely terrible for mushers. Rain and mud. Cinder has managed to break 100km but we should be double that by now at least. Remember - dog photos get posted on the TraiRoc website first. I'll be posting some pictures later today from our adventures in February.
Edit: Here are the photos I promised. Februrary Mushing.

Hi 2010!
So you I bet you are surprised to see an update here. What have I been up to lately? Here's the short version.Career: After four years at Bug-Tracker, I'm a free agent. I worked with some amazing people during my time there and I certainly learned a lot about my abilities and needs when it comes to my career. It's time for a change. Since leaving, I've been working on side projects and my resume and portfolio.
Dogs: The puppies are now almost 8 months old and have already joined Cinder and Denali on the sled. I've been busy all Fall working on the kennels and putting together my gear for the sledding season. Remember all TrailRoc related updates will be posted over there.
Travel: All the photos from our trip to Greece are finally on the site. It took me a lot longer than normal because I just kept putting the job off.
Tech: I bought a PlayStation 3, and am currently working my way through Assassin's Creed 2. Add DARK_E_WOLF to your PSN friends list if you want to play online. I wouldn't mind jumping back into Burnout Paradise with a few buddies.
Thanks to Todd, I just installed Windows 7 on the old laptop. Not bad Microsoft. I still prefer the Mac as my primary work computer but I'm pleased to report that after the upgrade things seem noticeable snappier. There are also some new features like Drag to resize (video) that are really handy, so much so that someone has created a Mac app to replicate the behaviour: Cinch.app.
Saw Avatar in 3D while in WNY last week. Standard SciFi story but the amazing visuals make up for it. Here's the trailer:

Blog: I'm working on a redesign of the blog. Things are in need of a refresh around here. It's not the highest priority on my list, but I'm finally getting something done. You can check out my work in progress. Be warned, things might break or disappear without warning.
Ok, that wasn't so short after all...

Flower
Flower has you flying through the dreams of a flower as a gust of wind. Tilt the controller to glide over hills and meadows as you visit more flowers, changing the landscape as you move along. What an amazing, relaxing game.18
